#IFBcon!

Tomorrow I will be away for the day off to NYC to attend IFBcon, will you please excuse my day off? Didn't get a ticket? Fear not lovely! You can watch it live HERE!

Oh wait, you did get ticket!? Fabulous! We sooooo have to meet up (helloooo fabulous photo opp!) Seriously though folks, this is me just being totally 100% honest, I suck at recognizing people and remembering names. If you see me, pleeeeease come up and say hi (and maybe say your name a few times so I don't forget)! Hopefully I'll be hard to miss, I pretty much always stand out in a crowd, what being 6' and having newly purple and orange mod Vidal Sassoon hair.

Excellent. You. Me. Photos. Rad.

CAPFABB Nectar Skin Bar

I love going to the CAPFABB (formerly DCFABB) meetups. It's always a fun way not only to catch up with old blogger friends, but also to make new blogger friends! This October's event was held at Nectar Skin Bar. Here are some of the pictures (see more on my Tumblr!

Also, a quick apology to some of the attendees. I took lots of pictures and unfortunately had some serious technical issues while transferring the photos to my hard drive. Most of my pictures were lost. I was only able to recover about 25%. I am so sorry if I took your picture and promised to share! Thanks for understanding guys!

IFBcon shoe obsessed

Last Wednesday I attended The Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference ( IFBcon ) in NYC. Not only did I come back to DC with a notebook full of scribbled down bits of advice, I also came back with a camera full of pictures of peoples feet. What a freak.

It's funny ya know? You go to a gathering of peers, you imagine you'd be chatting all day. Turns out I just ran around the room on my time off obsessing over peoples shoes. Go fig.

Keiko Lynn's on the go wearing Seychelles Hawk Wedges (you can see her whole outfit HERE). The oh so coveted Jessica Simpson Collection "Dany" was there (I've got these babies in tan and black!) And one of the beyond fabulous ladies of Idiosyncratic Fashionistas was wearing some super rad two tone creepers. I was so stoked to have a quick chat about loving creepers! She got hers at Trash and Vaudeville in NYC one of my most favorite places to go when I visit NYC where Jimmy (I love you Jimmy!!) will try to get you to buy the smallest pants you can squeeeeeze your butt into. And then he'll tell you you still need a smaller size.

For more non-shoe picks you can check out my brand spankin' new Tumblr page HERE
OR
You can see me and some other fab IFBcon ladies and gents HERE and HERE

Happy Friday Everyone!!

First up: The Shop...

Hellloooooo Mustard Yellow! So my favorite color right now.

Do we need to talk about this bag? Or can I just say "ohmagoshthisbag." I'm an Aztec Goddess.

More yellow and some pretty coral too, both super perfect hues for transition from summer to fall.

I want THIS!! wa.ha.haaaaant.

Now on to the ladies...

Cutie Patootie Gina of Tulle & Combat Boots

Hottie Pa.tot.ie Alina of The Feast and TheHyperbalist

Katalina of The You Finder and Libby designer of Diament Jewelry.

Some shoes I was enamored with...

And maybe, just maybe my favorite moment of the entire night. Here's the play by play:

Alina is at the register checking out, but wait!
Lacey calls to her, how could Alina have missed this tunic!?

Alina has a moment: "OMBRE!" "ONE SHOULDERED" are you kidding me!!!
Leggy Lacey: i know. for real. it's you.

Okay, I may have just put words in their mouths. Next time I'll make sure to have a tape recorder.
Err, I mean mp3 recorder. um, nevermind...

Oooops! I've been caught. Put down that camera paparazzo!
And yes, that is an epic, amazing, super major neon green clutch. Lacey, I'm freakin out.

Modcloth Pittsburgh Offices!

I'm back! Mr.Husband and I had a two beyond fantastic weeks on the road and we kicked it all off with a stop at the Modcloth Offices in Pittsburgh, PA. How cool is that!?

The office is in a big warehouse, open and relaxed. Co-workers congregate at eachothers stations. Casual yet fashionable work attire was abound (duh!) I saw every style from rocker shiny leggings and band tees to girlie dresses and embellished shoes.

The offices to the left were at one point Susan and Eric's. In between the two is a dog door for Winston! How cute! Winston's on the west coast now with Susan, but there were plenty of other cute dogs in the office. As long as your dog is under 30lbs they are welcome. I found myself walking through the space and just thinking what a dream it would be to work there. And then, icing on the cake, behold a Starbucks coffee machine. I don't know why I didn't take a picture of it (doh!) maybe because I was just so shocked that such a thing existed! Beyond the offices was another open area housing the Mod Stylists. I kept my cool, but I really just wanted to grab a chair and style away!
Hello Dream Job!

Next up was the other side of the warehouse where the photography takes place. Computers, Cameras, Clothing, oh my! I wanted to try everything on and hop on a set.

I figured I might get kicked out if I actually did though, settled for posing with this cool shoe instead.

 Props for shoots!

This is Aire! She was super friendly and I can't say enough how much I appreciate her taking me around the space. I can't remember if I complimented her or not on her super skilled accessorizing...

I asked Aire a bunch of questions, but the one that I wanted to share most with you all is,
"What direction will Modcloth's style be going in the future?"
I think it's interesting to see the company grow not only in size but grow up so to speak. I've been obsessed with online shopping for too many years to mention and Modcloth has been on my radar for about the last 4 years. I never put much thought into Modcloth's core demographic until recently when someone mentioned that the prices on the latest Be The Buyer choices were extreme and that maybe they were loosing site of said core demographic. I was like "Holy smokes, I'm not the core demographic?" (insert pint of icecream for being old woes here) Susan is younger than I am, but only by a few years, I never really considered that the customer base would be any different than me... Anyway, to the point, Aire said that the whole process is rather organic. Susan is the creative guide of the company, her tastes and style is ever evolving and so is Modcloth as a result. That being said, they try to maintain a broad spectrum of styles and prices.

I was thrilled to tour the office. A HUGE thank you goes out to Aire for taking time out of her day to show me around and answer my questions and listening to my endless chatter about how much I love Modcloth and dogs and the paint colors in their office and the Girlie Bird Gets the Dress!

meet me at the beach!

No really, come to the beach tomorrow, Thursday May 26 2011, and meet me at Peppers! Mr.Husband will be DJing The Cure and The Smiths. Perfect for dance-age. Details HERE

and now, today's walk to work...

Todays walk was aaaahhhhhhmazing. I decided to listen to The Monkees. Best decision ever. All was lovely until I was almost creamed by a car. Okay, it wasn't that close,  but close enough that I was peeved they didn't slow down so I punched their trunk. Cause I'm badass. Turns out though all that does is give you a sore fist. I don't recommend it.

See you tomorrow? YES! See you tomorrow!!
Beeeeeeeeeeeach!
