sunday inspiration #15 - monochrome

Happy Sunday Dudes! Today's Sunday inspiration is monochrome, which I am super stoked on. Totally reminds me of the 60's, one of my all time favorite decades. What's inspiring you this week? Don't forget to check out what is inspiring my blogger bff Gina this week over at Tulle and Combat Boots!

I grabbed all these images from pinterest. Generally I loathe not properly sourcing images, but I'm just so pooped tonight! I will do my best to go back later this week and find the proper sources. In the meantime you can check them all out on my pinterest account :)

T by Alexander Wang Bra

T by Alexander Wang Bra
I love Pinterest, but every once in a while it just breaks my little heart. I came across this AWESOME T by Alexander Wang Bra in my feed and tragically realized after frantically clicking through in must buy mode that it is no where to be found. It's from way back in 2010. Insert Katie pout face here.

Rock-n-roll Chick

I'm So Rock-n-Roll

Sometimes I dress like a full on sugary sweet cutie patootie. Other times I wanna be a bad ass rock-n-roll chick. Isn't that just the best thing about clothes? I love that an outfit can totally transform my mood, my attitude, and how people perceive me. Do you like to mix it up as much as I do, or do you stay pretty true to just one style aesthetic?

Rocker chic

rocker chic

Not that I had any money to purchase any of this when I was 20, but man oh man am I jealous of the selection of "dark" rocker chic clothes that are on the market now. Don't get me wrong, I still covet all my vintage slips, corsets, and British combat boots, but it was a lot harder for us back then to be alternative. Maybe harder is the wrong word, it took a lot more effort, which in a way made it a super exclusive group to be a part of. Who knew 15 years later it would be borderline mainstream...

Cat Sweater

cat sweater

Yes, another cat sweater.

I had someone recently ask me "If you were rich, would you still dress like you do?" The answer is more complex than a straight yes or no. I would still be me for sure: polka dots, peter pan collars, bright colors, bows, vintage, and yes, I would definitely still wear cat sweaters. But if money wasn't an object, I sure as heck would buy designer pieces. How spectacular are these Miu Miu shoes? And that pencil skirt, I mean really... Lest we not forget to mention the coveted Burberry handbag, absolutely divine.

How about you guys, do you think if you had limitless money that you would delve into designer duds, or would you stay closer to your current clothing options?

Black Booties

I am fascinated with fashion's continued expedition into the world of badass chicks. As someone who wore combat boots, platform boots, and creepers and cut up my clothes to reconstruct them with spikes studs and safety pins for a good portion of my life, I sometimes feel as though I am in some parallel universe. Stud covered booties at Nordstrom? Bondage strap boots at Bloomingdale's? Sooooo surreal. But hey, the more the merrier says the mature adult me (the not so mature me says "Get off my lawn you lame-ass posers! I had to order those from the UK when I was your age. Ah, kids these days...")

Bondage straps, buckles, chains and spikes. Here are some of my favorites right now:

My Fave:
I love that these have a thick chain underneath the arch. It's completely tough, but also subtle enough to make these black booties completely versatile. Goth all grown up shall we say.

Pining for Autumn

Waiting for Fall

I know. It's the dead of summer. Hot, languid, sultry DC summer. Maybe that is why I am pining for, craving for, longing for autumn. I am beyond ready for those crisp cool days and chilly evenings that allow me to dust of my wool hats and coats.

Post Script.
I am so not into the mustache trend. I know lots and lots of people think it's just the cutest thing right now and that's totally okay. No judgement on them. For me though, I just couldn't get into it. Maybe it's because it is facial hair. Come on, what lady wants to wear facial hair? To the point, as anti-stache as I am these googlie eyes kinda make these earrings ridiculously adorable.

Va-va-voom vintage repro

While generally a champion of actual vintage garments, every once in a while reproduction vintage sweeps me off my feet!
