Frankenstein Manicure
Happy Mani Monday and Happy Halloween!
This week I did a super fun frankenstein manicure. It requires a bit of a steady hand, but you don't have to be a pro since it's a silly sloppy monster. It was easier than I expected!
(this color stains your nails a bit, I recommend using a clear base coat
as well as a coat of white underneath to protect your nails.)

The Temptress' Power
Last Friday I dipped into Rite Aid to pick up just a comb and nothing else. No need to look anywhere but at the combs. Eyes forward. ... ... And then I came home with nail polish, eyeliner, and some halloween goodies. Typical. At least for the nail polish I can blame L'oreal. They've clearly enchanted this color with the Temptress' actual power. I was helpless.

Sinful Colors Easy Going
Easy Going by Sinful Colors is completely outside the lines of my typical nail color. It is such a very pale pink, it's virtually white. I can't recall why I purchased this color, I've had it so long! Today as I was sifting through my bin of varnish it seemed to softly sigh as I passed it up yet again for a vampy rich dark hue. Am I the only person that feels guilty for not using a nail color? Probably. Regardless, down went the dark burgundy and on went Easy Going. I couldn't let Easy Going stand alone, I decided it needed a friend to keep it company. Gap recently caught me off guard by having nail color at the counter, hello impulse purchase. This sheer color dubbed Pearl is just that, a nice peachy, mother of pearl-ish hue that is perfect for top coating other colors.

Mani Monday
Last week one of my co-workers had a beautiful sophisticated subtle hue on her nails. So this week inspired by her, I'm donning "Eiffel For You". This hue by L'oreal is almost exactly in-between lavender and grey. Perfectly effeminate.

Mani Monday
After several weeks of lighter, brighter hues on my nails I decided this week it was time to go dark. I have a horrible habit of buying almost black nail polish, that once on your nails truthfully might as well be black. They always seem so promising in the bottle. C'est la vie!
This week I started out with two coats of "Carry On" by Essie. In the bottle it's a lovely rich deep plum color, but two coats on your nails and, you guessed it, might as well be black. No worries though, one more coat of "It's Genius" also by Essie and we're back in business. This violet and gold shimmery hue is relatively sheer as a single coat and brightened up the almost black to a nice golden plum.

Mani Monday NEON

Mani Monday
For this weeks #manimonday: a colorful take on a french manicure. I *tried* to do it using hole reinforcements like I see so many people doing on Pinterest, but for the life of me I can't get it to work! The stickers just seem TOO sticky and pull off the nail polish. So I tried putting them on very very gently, and then it doesn't work because the polish leaks through. Oy Vey! Anyway in the end I'm just better at free handing it.

It's Mani Monday! I always do my nails on Mondays before Blog Trends Chat on Twitter.
This week I was inspired by a picture I saw on Pinterest. I mean for real, tacos AND ombre?!?! Win Win:

Just to note: I start my manicures with Sally Hansen's Triple Strong Nail Fortifier, two coats. Being that the SinfulColors are a lower priced varnish, they also are a bit of a lower quality than I am used to. Not horrible though! Definitely a reasonable quality for the reasonable price. They were relatively opaque, two thick coats will do the trick. They did however seem to not want to dry. No worries, I always use Orly's Sec 'n Dry Quick Deep-Dry Topcoat and you should too. Love it!

I took it in a bit of a different direction changing the ombre from green to yellow as shown in this Pinspiration photo to blue to yellow. Being that I needed to buy a color for each nail I went the cheap route with nail polish this time picking up 5 bottles of SinfulColors from Target. They retail there in the stores for $1.99, but aren't available on Target's website. I've linked up the colors to Walgreens instead.
